One of the more important roles outside the core band or artist is the producer. This person is effectively a project manager for an album managing the output of the band, the engineering and the overall direction of the album.
In this program we highlight the work of Steve Lillywhite, a British producer, who started as a tape operator at Polygram and then produced a demo tape for Ultravox which lead to a recording contract for the band and a job at Island records for Lillywhite!
